Jon Evans, Invisible Armies
This week I’m chatting with Jon Evans about his new novel Invisible Armies. The book begins as Danielle Leaf, a privileged, but directionless, young American woman hops on the back of a motorcycle and drives straight into the dangerous backwaters of India’s heavily exploited mining country.
Danielle thinks she’s off on a minor adventure to fool local officials and smuggle a passport in for a friend. Instead she’s captured, beaten, narrowly escapes, and finds herself on the run from an untouchable, corporate superpower.
Aided by a team of ruthless political activists and wacky hacker geeks, Danielle has to find out who’s behind the faceless mining corporation and why they’re determined to kill her.
Leapfrogging from London, Paris, Goa to New York City, Invisible Armies is a grab you by the back of the neck thriller, that doesn’t let go until you turn the final page.
Invisible Armies is Jon Evan’s third thriller. Last year he won the prestigious Arthur Ellis award for his first novel Dark Places. I managed to catch up with Jon in Montreal en route to yet his next amazing adventure. Get ready for the ride!

Interesting interview for anyone who’s a working writer or who aspires to be. Lots of detail about process from a writer who, though he is at an early stage in his career, has obviously spent time thinking about his craft. And just enough detail about the book itself to tease the interest! I’ll read it!
